“Motivate” an artful blend of beats, rhymes & life
Boston, MA (May 23, 2011) — Monday, May 23rd marks the release of rapper Mark Merren’s debut solo album Motivate, thirteen tracks of realistic, raw and relatable rhymes that encourage listeners to make moves, show and prove, and live life to the fullest. Motivate is available for preview and purchase online at www.markmerren.com.
Hip hop heads and music lovers in and around Boston are invited to join Merren for a live performance of tracks from Motivate at his album release party on Thursday, May 26th at 9p at West End Johnnies, 138 Portland Street, Boston.
Featuring appearances by Mecca Cashier, MusicBox, J Tronius and P Soul and production by Rain, KLK Beatz, Maestro 1 Ton, Pat G and Merren himself, Motivate balances hard-hitting beats with Merren’s clever cadences and insightful rhymes, creating songs that are catchy yet conscious, entertaining yet empowering. From the soulful groove of “Wait A Minute” to “Medicinal,” a sexy ode to the healing power of the P, and “Last to Know,” where he insists on getting respect for his rhymes and grind, Motivate highlights Merren’s ability to artfully blend beats, rhymes and life.
Though Merren’s been making music most of his life, rhyming, recording and performing throughout New England as both a solo act and a member of the Boston-meets-Tokyo arts collective Agari Crew, Motivate has been many years in the making, the natural culmination of his explorations and examinations of the experiences, emotions, ideas, people and places that have pushed him to stay positive, eliminate negatives, and use his thoughtful lyricism to inspire others to do the same.
